Milestone EVENT Definition
A-22 Design Agent Start Survey The Design Agent is schedules to start the survey.  The design surveys are normally scheduled for accomplishment during scheduled maintenance availabilities. To the extent feasible, surveys will be scheduled for the last maintenance availability preceding the ten-year anniversary of each ship’s commissioning.  To minimize cost the Program Manager will normally task the Design Agent to survey all crew/CPO and troop berthing and sanitary spaces on each ship during a single ship visit, however, compartments affected by Women At Sea ShipAlts will normally be scheduled for survey after the shipalt is completed.
 
A-21 Design Agent Complete Survey The Design Agent has completed the ship check and gathered all the necessary data in order to prepare the drawings.
 
A-20 Design Agent Submit Survey Report to the Program Manager/Support Office The Design Agent is tasked to submit a survey report indicating its findings during the ship check.  This report includes for example; the compartment numbers of the spaces surveyed, the existing berth/fixture counts, the designed berth/fixture counts , the current use of the space, the list of Habitability drawings intended for development and their NAVSEA drawing numbers assigned.
 
A-19 Design Agent Submit Drawings The Design Agent should submit all drawings developed to the Program Manager for review and comments.
 
A-18 Program Manager Approve Drawings The Program Manager has reviewed and approved the submitted drawings.
 
A-14 TC Issue Advance Planning Notice to the Ship The Type Commander will issue an Advance Planning Notice (currently an e-mail) to the ship indicating the planned work scope of the next habitability installation project.  This notice request ships acknowledgement and the Commanding Officer's concurrence so continued planning and material identification and procurement can proceed.
 
A-13 Ship Respond to Advance Planning Notice The Ship, having received the advance planning notice, reviews the compartments selected for installations and provides concurrence or may request a different selection.  Once the Ship has responded, the Type Commander will issue a Project Confirmation Letter to all parties involved and planning and material identification and procurement will proceed.
 
A-9 Support Office Develop & Approve Parts Lists The Support Office will develop and approve the list of materials required for the next installation project.
 
A-8 Support Office Submit Spec Development Package to Planning Activity The Support Office will develop the Spec Development package consisting of all necessary installation and procurement drawings and issue it to the appropriate planning activity. (Currently this Spec Development Package is issued via e-mail and/or on CD-ROM)
 
A-8 Support Office Deliver Procurement Package to Program Manager The Support Office will develop a procurement package from the lists of materials required and deliver it to the Program Manager.  The Program Manager will then order the material.  Along with the Program Manager the Support Office will monitor and expedite the delivery of any material as necessary.
 
A-6 Support Office Issue Drawings to Planning Yard The Support Office will issue drawings to the appropriate Planning Yard for that ship.
 
A-3 Support Office Issue Drawings to Program Manager The Support Office will issue drawings to the Program Manager.
 
A-1 Habitability Material Staging Center (HMSC) Complete Material Inventory & Staging The Support Office will provide HMSC with an Installation Project Inventory Report (I0500) that will be used to inventory and stage all materials required for the installation project.
 
A Start Project The Program Manager will either task the MSR or an AIT Team to complete the installation project.
